All Hands! Special People’s Cruise Needs You

Any and all members who are available, please volunteer to help with the Special People’s Cruise on Saturday, June 4.

  • More boat captains are needed, especially those with pontoon boats.
  • Please help set up tents Friday afternoon if you are able.
  • Members should park in the grassy area near the boat launch or in the trailer boat storage area on Saturday.
  • During the day, members can help with lunch, games, fitting life jackets, helping guests on and off boats and helping boats in and out of slips.
  • We are still in need of items for prizes. Anything you think would be appropriate.
  • Captain’s meeting at 9:00am in the Clubhouse.

IRBBA Opposes Buffalo Rock Barge Terminal Expansion

To the Honorable Members of the LaSalle County Board,

In the name of public safety, maritime stewardship, and protection of anchorage at Buffalo Rock, we the boating community of the Illinois River Basin Boating Association, implore protection from Northern White Sands announced expansion.

Respectfully, we request that the County Board reject the intent of Northern White Sands Corporation to expand in the area between Buffalo Rock State Park and the LaSalle County Nursing Home.  Commercial barge traffic at the Buffalo Rock anchorage would create a clear and present danger to the recreational boating community.    Barge traffic cannot quickly stop forward momentum or easily navigate through a densely populated channel.
