IRBBA Winter Games 2019
Feb 22 – Feb 24 all-day

Winter Games 2019, sponsored by the Illinois River Basin Boaters Association (IRBBA), takes place Feb. 22-24. Members from boat clubs up and down the river are invited to this weekend-long gathering, where clubs compete to decorate hospitality suites and costume themselves guided by this year’s theme, “Beaches.”

On Saturday afternoon, each club enters a team to compete in the Winter Games, a variety of competitive events held in the hotel’s atrium.

The best part of Winter Games is meeting old friends and making new ones, comparing notes about boating life on the river and planning for spring.

This year’s venue is PARK INN by Radisson, 201 E. Ashland St., Morton, IL 309-263-5116. The full schedule is here.

2019 Wide-Waters Blessing of the Fleet
May 26 @ 1:00 pm
This special event is held every year on the water at Buffalo Rock. Cruise up river and take the side channel around Sheehan Island (mile marker 235 or so) to scenic Buffalo Rock. There is plenty of room for boats to anchor with a beautiful view of the sandstone bluffs. Clergy will give the blessing from atop a houseboat anchored near the bluffs. Tune in via marine radio VHF channel 68 to hear the blessing.
A good blessing never hurts! Bring your boat (or dingy, canoe, kayak, etc) or cruise along with friends. Here’s to a healthy and safe boating season.
