Spring Launch 2020

Saturday, May 9

This year’s spring launch was different. While in the past we have welcomed and appreciated everyone’s help on launch day, this year we kept the work crew as small as possible. Thank you for NOT helping and staying well away from the work area if you didn’t  have a specific assignment.

Members followed the Governor’s orders with regard to distancing and wearing masks.

Here are a few pics from another successful launch day.

April Updates

From the Commodore

  • The April meeting has been cancelled.
  • Spring launch has been moved from April 18 to Friday, May 1, but this is still a tentative date.
  • The clubhouse is locked and closed, per the Governor’s Stay at Home order.  Access to the laundry area and downstairs washrooms is open to members (with keycards/fobs.)
  • You may access the Club property to check on or work on your boat. If your boat is not stored onsite, you may bring it to your slip as weather permits. Please do not put any boats on B dock at this time, due to ongoing work there.
  • Please observe social distancing if others are on the property. Only members of your immediate household should be on your boat or closer than 6 feet.

We’re looking forward to the boating season more than ever this year. As you know, the situation is changing daily, and we depend on members to help keep themselves and others safe. Let’s be careful out there!

Our beautiful harbor. Patience!

Room with a View

If you’re a boater, we’ve got room with a view this spring.

30- and 40-foot slips are ready and waiting for you to bring your prized vessel to SRYC. You’ll find the setting beautiful, the people friendly, and the prices reasonable.

Formed in 1934, Starved Rock Yacht Club has a long tradition of serving boating families and the community. There is a well-equipped club house with bar, kitchen, big-screen TVs, event space, and huge deck with panoramic views of the harbor and Illinois river. Many of our docks were recently rebuilt, with new concrete surfaces and new power/water pedestals. Our launch ramp floats your boat into the quiet harbor, not the river’s current. We’ve got gas grills, picnic tables, hot showers, ice, and laundry — all for a fraction of the price you would pay at another marina.

Our members own all types of boats, from houseboats and power cruisers to ski boats, fishing boats, and pontoons. Pay us a visit and see for yourself! Membership is open to anyone with a boat or PWC.

SRYC is a member-owned, member-run, non-profit organization. Our charitable arm, SRYC Charities, has served the greater Ottawa community for years, awarding monetary grants to local schools and service organizations, and sponsors the annual Ron Robb Special People Cruise.

Here’s a chart showing open slips on our docks.
