Did you ever think about quitting your job, selling your house, moving onto your boat, casting off the lines and just cruising? SRYC members Bruce and Mary Kopecky are not just thinking about it — they’re actually doing it.
Later in September, aboard their diesel-powered Carver, Rollin Tide, the Kopeckys are heading down river on a journey known as the Great Loop.
The Great Loop is a 6,000 mile water route around the eastern third of the country that starts with a trip down the Illinois to the Mississippi, followed by a quick jaunt east on the Ohio, then south on the Cumberland river to Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake. From there, on to Mobile and the Gulf of Mexico. Bruce, Mary and their dog, Buster, plan to spend the winter months cruising Florida waters before heading up the east coast in the spring. They plan to be gone about a year … but who knows?
We’re envious! Travel safe.
