New USCG Fire Extinguisher Regs Coming in April

The U.S. Coast Guard has published new requirements for fire extinguishers that take effect in April, 2022. You’re going to need extinguishers rated at 5-B:C or 10-5:C (or greater) which will work on any boat. If your boat is model year 2017 or older, you may use extinguishers rated B:C, size 1 or 2. If you are using the disposable type of extinguisher, make sure it is less than 12 years old.
