Saturday, May 16th is also the date of the 2nd annual Starved Rock Country Marathon. The race course takes runners right past SRYC, and Dee Bennett Road will be closed a good part of the day. Expect the Club to be inaccessible (by road, not by boat!) for several hours, starting early in the morning and ending some time in the afternoon. Marathon volunteers will set up a watering station near the Club’s front gate, and volunteers are allowed to park inside the gate in  order to keep the road clear for the runners. Please extend our hospitality to them.
Hope to see everyone at the May membership meeting, Sunday, May 17th at 10:30am.
Seal coating and striping of the parking lot is tentatively planned for Tuesday and Wednesday, May 19 and 20. No one is allowed to drive on the pavement those days! If plans change, we’ll let you know.
A note from Charities President  Donna Malinak:
SRYC Charities are looking for jars which can be used for sand art. They could be baby food jars or small relish or pickle jars. Charities also needs items that can be used as game prizes  such as costume jewelry, story books, puzzles, wallets, purses, stuffed animals and even Beanie Babies if you run into them. If any of you work for a company which has some old promotional items just taking up space; ask if they would consider donating them to a good cause.
Thank you for your help. It is appreciated.
 Donna
And finally, the Blessing of the Fleet is Sunday, May 24th at Buffalo Rock, sponsored by Wide Waters Yacht Club.

Looking for a few good men …

… or maybe just one brave volunteer!

SRYC is looking for a volunteer to be our contestant for Miss Riverbottom 2015. The tradition continues this June with a fun-filled weekend, including the Riverbottom pageant on Saturday, June 27th.

No experience necessary! Will train. Must be outgoing, fun-loving and eager to perform in front of hundreds of cheering admirers. Fame and glory sure to follow (and probably sore feet!) Don’t worry, we’ll find your size.

Volunteers should contact Connie Baima or Pam Burgwald.
